The American eel is a member of the Eel
family (Anguillidae). Although most of their life is spent in freshwater streams (up to 20 years or more), adults become silver in color and journey to the Saragasso sea to spawn (catadromous). The map below shows presence (green circles) of this species in the 1995-2019 MBSS dataset. |
